#1: “Keep on passing open windows” means don’t jump. Never, ever, give up on your life.
The phrase “Keep passing the open windows” comes from John Irving’s novel The Hotel New Hampshire, published in 1981. It’s from the story about someone who committed suicide by jumping from a window. “Keep passing the open windows” another way of saying “carry on when the going gets tough”. I have never forgotten that phrase since reading the book.
